Nastiness. Corruption. Pettiness. Not new in Ashland Oregon City Hall politics. However, the divisiveness in this election cycle has fallen to new depths. So much disinformation being spewed on-line and in The Tidings newspaper, it is hard to tell fact from fiction. Greek Goddess Hera–ruler of the heavens–and number two deity on Mt. Olympus (with number one being on an old white guy with a lighting bolt problem) makes a rare appearance on mortal ground: Ashland, Oregon. The reason: A nasty email sent by an Ashland City Councilman that accuses an Ashland citizen of invoking a racial slur. March 8th is International Women’s Day. Its motto is: Diversity. Equality. Unity. Fantastic concepts. But more plain ol’ common sense than an earth-shattering manifesto.
